Onda Baptism-The contrade here, of which there are 17 in all of Siena, are tightly-knit neighborhood groups. The peak of their rivalry with one another comes during Palio. The flag presentation here precedes the secular baptism that the new members undergo near their fountain (every contrada has one). Tonight, a member of our group, Lynn Kennison, was baptized into the onda contrada. "Onda" means "wave," and a dolphin is their symbol.
