Getting ready for the start
of the race. Today's trial race featured a flawless start, a rarity
in Palio trials. Often there are several false starts because of the
trickiness of the starting process. All jockeys must corral their horses
between the two ropes. When all of the horses are in, the front rope
goes down, starting the race. Much is made of the start, as it is often
